I have used Belinda’s services several times over the last few years. She has proven invaluable with the redesign of two properties both in Australia and in France. She has an incredible ability to visualise a space without even seeing it. Belinda decorated/furnished the interior of my French home from Australia with just a few photos and room dimensions and it looks amazing!
We have just completed a guest suite with bathroom and a reading room. The result has transformed it into a lighter and more modern space but still in keeping with the age of the house. She calls it ‘transitional’. I love it!

When my husband and I decided to renovate our home, we engaged Belinda to decorate our interior. We had a late Victorian home (with a new extension) to decorate from scratch. We had gathered some ideas and notes but we were unsure of where to start, let alone how to tie it all together.Right from my first meeting with Belinda, I felt very comfortable with her suggestions. She established early on how we used our spaces and what was important to us. For us, that was a relaxed lifestyle with rooms in which to retreat, whilst taking into account the practical aspects of living with two very energetic dogs. We wanted to blend casual with elegant and old with new. Belinda listened carefully to our ideas and came up with wonderful suggestions for a colour scheme and overall character. It did not take long for her to get to know what we might like and so I found the process went very smoothly and was a lot of fun.
Belinda has the ability to see the “big picture” and always seemed to know what would look good in our home, whether it be colour, furniture or finishing touches. She has the ability to see the potential in things that I would otherwise have overlooked. She was always willing to listen and respected my take on things, whilst I trusted her guidance and advice. What we have ended up with is an interior that my husband and I absolutely love and feel expresses our own style. We now have the sanctuary we desired. When I walk into each room, I take pleasure in the calming palette and comforting surroundings, each room with its own identity.
On a personal level, I thoroughly enjoyed working with Belinda. She is an enthusiastic and friendly person and a pleasure to spend time with. I enjoyed our shopping trips and I have learned a lot from her. She made the whole experience enjoyable and exciting.

Be it the choice of colour, the art work and the soft furniture it all looks and feels brilliant. Despite being a  huge project no one felt that the work intruded on their privacy considering that a number of our terraces  had to be totally waterproofed and retiled.

We recently purchased a very old beach house that we intend to renovate in the next couple of years.

Prior to the renovation we wanted to make this house very liveable and comfortable so that we would be inclined to use it as often as we could. With that in mind we contacted Belinda Dowsett from BM Interiors to project manage the whole task for us.

This involved renovating the kitchen, replacing all the bathrooms, many internal repairs (eg windows, doors, floors, cupboards etc) internal and external painting, external works in the yard (including fencing, awnings and landscaping), and all of the interior decorating and furnishings within the house right down to the towels and linen.

Belinda immediately had a feel for the house, our taste, and our desire for everything to be just perfect. We are so impressed and absolutely delighted with what Belinda has delivered – her attention to detail, her knowledge base and her network of suppliers, builders, joiners, plumbers and painters sets her apart and makes a project like this seem effortless!

All of the works were carried out promptly, fiscally (but to the highest of standards) and as far as we are concerned perfectly! We were in constant communication with Belinda throughout the process, we were always kept updated and well informed and no question or additional task we wanted done was ever problematic.

Belinda is an absolute professional with outstanding capabilities – we cannot recommend her highly enough and we could not have achieved such a functional, vibrant, beautifully decorated beach house without her.

‘We were so thrilled with the result Belinda achieved working with us on our 1899 family home in Hunters Hill. Belinda guided us through the whole process. The interior was repainted and Belinda complemented treasured pieces of our family furniture, with soft furnishings and beautiful fabric blinds. The result really suited the style of the house making it look fresh, yet very welcoming and inviting. Belinda helped me select a few lovely antiques and paintings which are still some of my favourite pieces. Working with Belinda the house really started to shine.

Whilst we were living overseas we rented out our family home. When the time came to do some maintenance I engaged BM Interiors to take care of new carpets, blinds and interior painting.

Belinda took care of everything from selection of products and colours, through to installation and supervision of the tradesmen. Belinda had great suggestions and I really appreciated that she was conscious of achieving value for money. For instance she suggested we keep the old blind mechanisms and just get new fabrics which saved a lot of money.

The carpet she recommended still looked brand new 2 years later despite the property being tenanted. Belinda’s trusted trades people all delivered work of the highest quality. Belinda kept us updated throughout and made the whole process very easy even though we were thousands of miles away.

Earlier this year we decided to sell the property and Belinda styled our house for sale. It looked truly amazing and I am confident Belinda added thousands to its value. The house was not occupied at the time but Belinda styled it into a beautiful family home.

I think that often properties that have been styled can end up looking soulless – like a show flat or furniture display showroom. In contrast Belinda really focuses on adding the little touches that will create an emotional response in buyers. Our house looked like we really loved it and we were very pleased with the sale price, despite difficult market conditions.

It is with great pleasure that I am writing this reference for Belinda Dowsett of BM Interiors.

I first met Belinda 5 years ago, as the associate Director of the last 2 Matrix films, I was looking for an interior designer to assist the production in the set up and design of the dressing/green rooms for our leading cast member, including Keanu Reeves and also the offices of our executive personnel.

Belinda had previously worked on the Star Wars feature film shot at Fox Studios in Sidney and came to me highly recommended by the producer of that film. Belinda’s brief was to design and then organise manufacture and/or purchase all furniture and dressings. Belinda produced budgets for each individual project and all her work was on or under budget. Each room, office and motor home that Belinda worked on as individual, comfortable, practical where necessary, and stylish and much appreciated by those who used them.

After seeing Belinda’s work during Matrix I then engaged her to design and oversee the renovation of my own home. I was at the time working very long hours and did not have the time to do this myself so Belinda took all the pressure off me. Belinda not only produced smart, clever and exciting ideas she also project managed the entire job. Renovation can be a very stressful time for anyone but having Belinda in charge made it very easy for me.  We were delighted at the results Belinda achieved – it was just what we had hoped for only better.
